Günther Tschabuschnig received his Master in Computer Science from TU Vienna, Austria, and his MSc in Economics at the University of Vienna, working at ZAMG since 2015.

2015-today: Division Head and CIO of the IT Department, responsible for the operational services (HPC, Cluster, Datacenter) and innovation activities. Team leading for Application design, API, data centre management, client management.

2007-2015: Federal Chancellery ICT strategy and high potential project management for governmental purposes. eID and data management for a government (open data, semi-open data, closed data).

Chief Scientist at SINTEF Digital, Department for Software and Service Innovation, Group for Smart Data. The leader of BDVA (Big Data Value Association) TF6 Technical Priorities, GEMINI Center for Big Data with SINTEF, NTNU and UiO and SINTEF BigLearn on Big Data and Machine Learning.

Jim is a Principal Investigator for Intel Labs Europe at Intel Corporation.
Jim is BDVA’s Interlock with ETP4HPC and co-chair of BDVA’s taskforce on ‘Big Data and HPC’, a community forum dedicated to exploring the intersection of data analytics and HPC – distilling insights and influencing further research strategies. Jim co-edited a forthcoming whitepaper on behalf of the BDVA and ETP4HPC associations on the topic of ‘The Technology Stacks of High Performance Computing and Big Data Computing: What they can learn from each other’.

Isabella Weger
Deputy Director of Computing, European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts

Isabella Weger is Deputy Director of the Computing Department at ECMWF. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, an independent intergovernmental organisation supported by 34 states, and is both research organisation and a 24/7 operational service.

ECMWF produces world-leading global medium-range numerical weather predictions for which it relies on advanced observation-analysis and numerical modelling techniques and the use of state-of-the-art supercomputer and data archive technologies. Isabella Weger graduated from Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). She held various technical and management positions in IT Services at TU Graz, where she was in charge of the university’s HPC infrastructure and services from 1988 onwards.

From 2000 to 2005 she was Director of IT Services at the University of Graz. She joined ECMWF in 2005, currently holding the position of Deputy Director of Computing.

Nenad Stojanovic
CEO of Nissatech

Dr Nenad Stojanović is CEO of Nissatech, big data analytics company He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Karlsruhe (KIT), Germany. From 2006 to 2014 he was a team leader, senior researcher and project manager at FZI Research Center for Information Technology at KIT. His domains of interests are innovative real-time data-intensive systems based on advanced technologies like Stream Processing ( Complex Event Processing), Data Analytics. Especial important is his work in the domain of artificial intelligence, including knowledge representation and logic reasoning, as a part of the Semantic Web research.

He is active in BDVA, contributing mainly to the big data technologies and focusing on data analytics. In addition, he has been intensively involved in the HPC - BD integration driving the process of the technology integration and use case analysis.

Jan F. Nygård
Head of the Registry Informatics Department

Dr Jan F. Nygård received his engineering degree in Cybernetics from Oslo College of Engineering in 1991, a BSc in Political Science (1998) and a PhD in Epidemiology (2005) from the University of Oslo.

He worked at the Institute of Community Medicine, the University of Oslo from 1992 to 1998, and from 1999 at the Cancer Registry of Norway. From 2007, he is the head of the Registry Informatics Department.

His research interest lies in the cross-section between big data analytics, data privacy, secure computing and epidemiology. He has published more than 40 original research papers in peer-reviewed journals and supervised MSc and PhD students from informatics and medical faculties. He is a board member of the CERTUS SFI and serves on several reference and steering committees.

From July to December 2017, he was a visiting scientist at the Institute for Applied Scientific Computing at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory which host the number three HPC (Sierra with 71 610 TFlop/s) in the world according to top500.org – and is working on projects with the application of HPC to cancer registry data for analytics.
