Feiyu has in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the areas of AI platform development, conversational AI, knowledge graphs, information extraction, business intelligence, and big-data text analytics. Through her various functions, she has obtained broad and in-depth experience of the total cycle of innovation in her expert areas – ranging from basic research via AI development all the way to products and their commercialization.

Before joining SAP, Feiyu was Vice President of Lenovo Group, Head of AI Lab at Lenovo Research, from March 2007 to March 2020. Under her leadership, the AI Lab has been conducting R&D in the fields of natural language processing, voice technology, computer vision, machine learning, and smart data. She designed and led the Lenovo overall AI technology strategy, and she was acknowledged for substantial contributions to the intelligent transformation of Lenovo. During her employment at Lenovo, she was based in Beijing.

Prior to Lenovo Group, Feiyu was Principal Researcher of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), leading the research group of text analytics in the Language Technology Lab, based in Berlin. Besides, she was co-founder and general manager of Yocoy Technologies GmbH, a DFKI spin-off company founded in 2007.

In 2013, she won a Google Focused Research Award for her contribution in the field of natural language processing. One year later, she was awarded the honor of DFKI Research Fellow, the highest distinction for researchers at DFKI. As of now, Feiyu has published more than a hundred research papers. Many of them at top-level NLP/AI conferences. She also served as a workshop, program, section chair for various international conferences.

Feiyu studied technical translation at Tongji University in Shanghai. She then studied computational linguistics at Saarland University and graduated by receiving a Diploma (MSc) with distinction. Her PhD-Thesis was in the area of Applied NLP. In 2015, Feiyu completed a habilitation in big-data text analytics.
2019, Feiyu was selected by Forbes China 2019 to the List of Top 50 Women in Tech. At Global AI Application Product Expo 2019, she was honored as one of the Top 10 Persons of the year in Chinese Artificial Intelligence.
